important notes about
outings
 | Leaders and assistants are trained volunteers who work hard to make
each trip a success. |
 | To sign up for an outing, please contact the leader.
|
 | In order to participate in one of the Sierra Club's outings, you will need
to sign a liability
waiver. In the interests of facilitating the logistics of some outings, it is
customary that participants make carpooling arrangements. The Sierra Club does
not have insurance for carpooling arrangements and assumes no liability for
them. Carpooling, ride sharing or anything similar is strictly a private
arrangement among the participants. Participants assume the risks associated
with this travel. |
 | All Sierra Club outings are open to members
and non-members alike. You may sign up for outings at the group's monthly
meetings or by contacting the leader of the outing by phone or e-mail. Children are welcome on most day hikes when accompanied by an adult. Contact the
outing's leader to determine if the outing is appropriate for your child. Pets
are not allowed unless the outing is designated as a "pet's permitted outing".
Firearms are not allowed. Electronic music devices are not allowed. Outing
leaders have the final word before and during the outing they are leading and
may set minimum fitness, experience and/or equipment requirements for their
trip and may screen applicants accordingly. Contact the outing leader for any
questions about a particular outing. Transportation is not a part of the
outing. However, car-pooling is encouraged. REIMBURSEMENT for drivers is
recommended at a rate of 10 cents per mile per person. |

August
 | August 2nd - bird
viewing outing for those who wish to learn more about Oklahoma’s bird
species. Mr. Don Kirkland, owner of Quail Valley Ranch, has graciously
invited us to bird on his property which is 4 miles south of Tidal School
Vineyard in Drumright, Ok. The ranch is approx.1600 acres w/meadows, wooded
areas, creeks, and numerous ponds. Mr. Kirkland has a large indoor arena
with ample parking, a restroom, and a kitchen to meet in. In return for
allowing us to bird there, we will send him with a CD of labeled digital
pictures documenting the species of birds that we see. Saturday morning we
will enjoy several hours of birding. Around 11:00 we will regroup to
conclude our official outing.
