OKLAHOMA CHAPTER FUNDING FOR
Environmental Education PROJECTS

The Oklahoma Chapter provides funding support and some planning assistance for a variety of environmental education programs in the state.  Following is a list of projects we have supported over the past decade.

 

·         Purchase of environmental DVDs for loan to teachers and groups, as well as our own Sierra Club movie nights.

·         The Oklahoman Newspapers in Education (NIE) Earth Day Supplement 2008

·         Oklahoma Trash Poster Contest: http://www.okladot.state.ok.us/beauty/poster/index.htm

·         Oklahoma Sustainability Network annual conference & website development (http://www.oksustainability.org/)

·         EE Expo: Oklahoma Association for Environmental Education (www.okaee.org)

·         The EnvironMentor newsletter primarily for teachers, a partnership with OKAEE and OKEECC (The Oklahoma Environmental Education Coordinating Committee). This newsletter has now morphed into the OKAEE Newsletter, but back issues may be found online: www.okaee.org.

·         Tar Creek Conference, L.E.A.D. Agency based in Miami (http://www.leadagency.org/)

·         Oklahoma Consortium for Environmental Literacy’s Master Plan for Environmental Education in Oklahoma (OKCEL is now defunct, but the searchable database of EE resources in online here: http://www.oksustainability.org/resources/ )

·         Green Teacher Activity Books are often purchased for distribution at EE teacher events (www.greenteacher.com)

·         Oklahoma Food Cooperative (www.oklahomafood.coop)

·         Oklahoma Envirothon sponsorship, natural resource competition for high school students (http://www.envirothonok.com/)

·         Eco-Motion sponsorship - mobile environmental education program featuring Edison the Bus (currently inactive - http://www.edisonthebus.org/)

·         Eco-Summit – Week-end camping retreat/training for high school environmental clubs: Co-sponsored with OKAEE & OK Co. Conservation District

·         Guthrie High School’s Statewide Environmental Art Contest (cash prizes)

·         Carrie Dickerson Foundation - funding for Carrie’s exhibit at conferences (http://www.carriedickersonfoundation.com/)

·         Environmental Impact Statement for I-40 Relocation (testing equipment for Jennifer Lynch, Jackson Middle School)
